While most travelers consider the Jersey Shore the East Coast locale for casinos and gambling, they may not realize the surrounding treasures that await in Atlantic City. Stepping out for a stroll down the pier offers a number of opportunities for a well-rounded visit.
Nestled among the popular casino strip, the Tanger Outlet is just one of the many shopping spots available to visitors. In addition, the Playground, formerly The Pier Shops at Ceasars, is another premier destination for savvy shoppers. Discover high-end fashion, soothing interactive water fountains, and fine dining invites a day of strolling and indulging just to experience all the sights and flavors the area has to offer.
2. Sea Creatures
Experience the wonders of nature at the Atlantic City Aquarium. Part of the Historic Waterfront Foundation, the aquarium holds a number of exhibits featuring live sea creatures native to the area. For the brave traveler, the tropical shark touch tank allows guests to interact first hand with a number of exotic sharks. These are just a few of the exhibits available, and the venue is perfect for group tours.
No trip is complete without taking in the culinary landscape and Atlantic City has no shortage of offerings. There are plenty of restaurants along the strip, but the savvy traveler will be seeking out the local fare. The true pearl of the neighborhood is Dock’s Oyster House, a local fixture since 1897. Dock’s has remained the talk of the town with features such as the fresh Raw Bar, a rotating selection of delectable oysters, in addition to other menu favorites, like the shellfish samplers or the fried calamari. Dock’s Oyster House can’t be missed.
So even if casinos are not on the docket, there is still plenty to choose from in Atlantic City, New Jersey, making this trip no gamble.
