Florida Keys Food

Restaurants around Key Largo and Islamorada abound.  And what’s more, many of these Florida Keys favorites serve up fresh seafood, maybe even caught that day.  One in particular, Lazy Days in Islamorada, will take your day’s catch and cook it up however you choose. And they’ll do it while you relax on the porch overlooking the Atlantic.  Hobo’s Cafe in Key Largo is a local favorite famous for their ceviche and conch chowder.

Florida Keys Fishing and Diving

The Florida Keys are famous for their fabulous fishing. And there are many places to charter a boat for the day.  The captains will gladly take you out and help you reel in the big one. It’s almost as much fun for them as it is for you when you score big!

Diving is a big draw for visitors to the Keys.  Key Largo is home to the world’s only underwater hotel, Jules Undersea Lodge, built specifically for divers.  The John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park in Key Largo was the first undersea park built in the US.  Many of the scuba companies in the area will also train and certify you, so you can maximize your explorations.

Florida Keys Fauna

Wildlife rehabilitation centers are scattered throughout the area.  The Wild Bird Sanctuary in Tavernier is a refuge and sanctuary for hundreds of birds.  Also a must-see is Dolphins Plus in Key Largo, a research and education center where you can jump in and swim with the dolphins.  The Upper Keys are also very close to the Florida Everglades where the local reptilian residents will be on display.

Florida Keys Fun

The laid back attitude of the locals is what the Keys are famous for.  What’s more, it’s easy to follow suit while you are in town.  Grab a cocktail and watch the famous sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico, stroll on a beautiful white sand beach or swim in the clear blue water.  The dock located behind The Islamorada Fish Company is perfectly situated to view the sunsets and watch the fishing boats return with their catch.

The Upper Florida Keys are looking forward to your visit.
