If only the walls could talk… History comes alive as we visit some of the most significant and memorable locations of World War II. Imagine Churchill planning strategy from his underground bunker in London. Or the movements of wounded and ailing soldiers in the hidden hospital and cliffside tunnels at Dover. Feel the power of the waves hit the Beaches at Normandy, and think about the last blood of valiant soldiers being washed back into that sea. Hear the stories of the villages and villagers liberated by the Allied forces. We will be visiting historic sites, lasting memorials and monuments, and cemeteries as we travel from London to Paris. Freedom is not free.

Our journey begins as we board our international flight bound for London, England.
Welcome to London! We are greeted by our Tour Manager and
begin a panoramic introduction to one of the world's most iconic
capitals. Highlights include Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament,
Whitehall, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, and
Buckingham Palace, before an inside visit to the legendary
Tower of London, which is home to nearly 1,000 years of royal
history and the dazzling Crown Jewels. After checking into our
hotel, we gather this evening for a welcome dinner and the
opportunity to get acquainted with our fellow travelers.
Today is devoted to wartime London and the remarkable
resilience of the British people during the Blitz. We begin with
a private guided visit to the Churchill War Rooms, the secret
underground headquarters where Winston Churchill and his
cabinet directed Britain's war effort throughout World War II.
After lunch, we visit magnificent Westminster Abbey before
joining a guided Blitz Walking Tour, exploring sites including
the American Memorial Chapel at St. Paul's Cathedral, the Blitz
Memorial, and locations that vividly illustrate London's courage
under relentless bombing. The remainder of the evening is free
to enjoy the city at your own pace—perhaps browse the shops
of Covent Garden, attend a West End theatre performance, or savor a traditional English pub dinner
This morning we travel to Bletchley Park, Britain's top-secret
codebreaking center and one of the most influential intelligence
sites of World War II. Here we explore the historic mansion,
wartime huts, and exhibits that tell the story of Alan Turing and
the thousands of brilliant men and women whose efforts to
break the German Enigma code helped shorten the war and save
countless lives. Returning to London this afternoon, we have
free time to explore before gathering this evening for a relaxing
Thames River cruise, offering a unique perspective of the city's illuminated landmarks
Our day begins at the renowned Imperial War Museum, where
immersive exhibits chronicle the Blitz, the Battle of Britain, DDay, the Holocaust, and the personal stories of those whose
lives were forever changed by the war. Later, we step aboard
HMS Belfast, one of the few surviving Royal Navy warships
from World War II, learning about life at sea and the vessel's
important role supporting the Normandy landings. The remainder of the evening is yours to continue discovering
London's many attractions.
Enjoy a leisurely morning with free time to revisit favorite
London landmarks, explore world-class museums, or browse
the city's vibrant shopping districts. This afternoon we travel to
Portsmouth, Britain's historic naval port and an important
embarkation point for the D-Day invasion. Upon arrival, we
visit the D-Day Story Museum, featuring compelling artifacts,
personal accounts, and the remarkable Overlord Embroidery,
which vividly recounts the events surrounding Operation
Overlord. We conclude the day with dinner together.
We board the ferry to France, retracing the route taken by
thousands of Allied troops preparing for the Normandy
invasion. During the crossing, a WWII historian provides
fascinating commentary about Operation Neptune, the largest
amphibious invasion in history, and the events leading to June
6, 1944. Upon arrival, we visit the iconic Pegasus Bridge, one
of the first objectives captured by British airborne forces during
the opening hours of D-Day, before continuing to the Longuessur-Mer German Battery and the coastal town of Arromanches,
where we learn about the extraordinary engineering
achievement of the Allied Mulberry Harbor. We then continue to Bayeux for dinner and our overnight stay.
Today is dedicated to the American story of D-Day. We begin in
Sainte-Mère-Église, one of the first French towns liberated by
Allied forces, where we visit the Airborne Museum honoring
the American paratroopers who landed behind enemy lines. We
continue to Utah Beach, where U.S. forces came ashore on June
6, followed by Pointe du Hoc, where Army Rangers famously
scaled towering cliffs under heavy fire to neutralize German
artillery positions. Our day concludes at the Normandy
American Cemetery and Memorial, overlooking Omaha Beach,
where rows of white crosses and Stars of David provide a
moving tribute to the thousands who gave their lives in the
liberation of Europe.
Our exploration of Normandy continues with visits to Juno
Beach and Gold Beach, where Canadian and British forces
landed on D-Day. At the Juno Beach Centre, we gain insight
into Canada's vital contribution to the Allied victory and the
sacrifices made by its servicemen and women. We return to the
beautifully preserved medieval town of Bayeux, the first major
French city liberated after D-Day. Serving as an important Allied headquarters and medical center during the Battle of Normandy, Bayeux escaped much of the destruction
experienced elsewhere in the region. Here we enjoy time to stroll its charming streets, admire its magnificent cathedral, and
visit the world-famous Bayeux Tapestry, which chronicles William the Conqueror's historic invasion of England. We enjoy an evening at leisure.
Before departing Normandy, we visit the outstanding Caen
Memorial Museum, where thought-provoking exhibits explore
the origins of the conflict, the German occupation of France, DDay, the Battle of Normandy, and the road to liberation. After
time for lunch, we continue to Paris, where a panoramic
sightseeing tour introduces the elegant French capital.
Highlights include the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs-Élysées,
Place de la Concorde, the Eiffel Tower, and many of the city's
most celebrated landmarks. The evening is free to experience
Paris at your own pace.
Today's discoveries focus on Paris during World War II. We
begin at Les Invalides, home to the Army Museum, whose
extensive collections highlight France's military history,
including significant exhibits on both World Wars and the
Liberation of France. We continue with a WWII-themed
walking tour highlighting the German occupation, the French
Resistance, and the liberation of Paris in August 1944. The
remainder of the afternoon is free to enjoy Paris independently.
Enjoy a full day at leisure to experience Paris at your own pace
with an included hop-on hop-off bus pass. Revisit favorite sites
or discover more of what makes Paris so captivating. This
evening, we gather for a farewell dinner celebrating an
unforgettable journey through some of Europe’s most
significant World War II sites.
Our journey draws to a close as we transfer to Charles de Gaulle
Airport for our return flight home. We leave with lasting memories of the places we visited and a deeper appreciation for the courage, sacrifice, and determination of those who shaped the course of history.
